1. Introduction
PlayerSells is a service operated by Duck Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16726307, whose registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Duck Digital Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at https://playersells.com. Please read this policy carefully.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Data: Name, email address, password, and profile information when you create an account.
- Identity Verification Data: When you verify your identity, the details read from your ID document (such as name, date of birth, document number and issuing country) and a selfie, and, where we ask for proof of address, a recent utility bill, bank statement or government letter showing your name and address.
- Transaction Data: Payment information, transaction history, escrow details, and communication between buyers and sellers.
- Listing Data: Account details, metrics, screenshots, and descriptions you provide when creating a listing.
- Communications: Messages sent through our platform, support requests, and dispute-related correspondence.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Device & Browser: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and screen resolution.
- Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent, click patterns, search queries, and referral sources.
- Cookies: Session and persistent cookies for authentication, preferences, and analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the platform and escrow services.
- To process transactions and send related notifications.
- To verify account listings and prevent fraud.
- To communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and resolve disputes.
- To analyze usage patterns and improve the platform experience.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where data-protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your personal data on one or more of the following bases:
- Contract: to create your account and provide the marketplace, escrow, and related services you request.
- Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, and improve the platform, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect our users and our rights, balanced against your interests.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws, including financial, tax, and anti-money-laundering requirements, and lawful requests.
- Consent: where we rely on your consent, such as certain analytics or communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share data with:
- Transaction Counterparties: Limited information necessary to complete a transaction (e.g., buyer/seller communication during escrow).
- Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist with payment processing, hosting, analytics, and fraud detection, bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of PlayerSells and its users.
6. International Data Transfers
PlayerSells operates globally, and your information may be processed, stored, and accessed in countries other than your own, including by our service providers. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect personal data transferred across borders.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption (TLS/SSL), secure password hashing, access controls, and regular security audits. Escrow funds are held in segregated accounts. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security and you provide your information at your own risk. We will notify you and any relevant authority of a data breach where required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Transaction and verification records are retained for a minimum of 5 years for legal, tax, anti-money-laundering, and compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account, but we may retain certain data where necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. If you have transacted as a seller, the record of that sale is retained in full after your account is closed. That record includes your identity verification data, the order and message history, listing data, payout details, and the technical logs tied to your use of the Services, such as IP address, device, and session information. We keep it because a buyer can report months later that a transferred account was reclaimed or recovered, and we need to be able to establish who sold it. Closing your account ends your access and de-identifies your public profile; it does not erase these records, and a deletion request cannot be used to remove evidence relevant to a pending or foreseeable claim.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your personal data.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
- Data portability - receive your data in a structured format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. To protect your account, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Some rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We also use analytics cookies to understand how users interact with our platform. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect platform functionality.
11. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
12. Browser Extension and Embedded Tools
The Creator Rank browser extension (for Chrome, Edge and Firefox), and the rank checkers and badges that other websites can embed from us, handle data as follows:
- On X, Bluesky, Telegram, TikTok, YouTube, Kick and Twitch, the extension reads the address of the page you are on to find the profile handle in it, for example "nasa" in x.com/nasa, and shows a small label with PlayerSells data next to the account's name. It looks at the page's layout, such as where the account's name sits and the page's colours, only to place that label and match its style. It does not read, record or send posts, messages, or anything you type, and it does nothing on other websites.
- The side panel follows the active tab on those seven sites to show the account open in it.
- If you switch on timeline badges on X (off by default), the extension also reads the profile links of the post authors in your timeline, for example "/jack", and sends those handles to playersells.com to show their scores. You can switch this off at any time in the extension's settings.
- It sends that handle and the platform name to playersells.com, and to no other service, to look up the rank. If you type a handle into the extension, it sends that handle instead.
- Like any request to our servers, a lookup carries your IP address. We use it only to limit how many lookups one connection can make. For that purpose it is held in server memory for at most one hour, and it is not written to a database or log or linked to an account.
- The extension does not use cookies, does not ask you to sign in, and contains no analytics or advertising code. It keeps your settings, your watchlist and recent answers from playersells.com in your browser's extension storage on your device. Recent answers are deleted after at most 30 minutes and when the browser closes, and you can clear the watchlist and the stored answers from the extension's settings. It also counts how many times you have opened an account's details in the extension or loaded an account in the side panel, with the date of the first time. That count is used only to ask you once, after a few uses, to rate the extension in the browser's extension store, and it never leaves your device. None of this is sent to us.
- The extension's share buttons act only when you click them. The button for X opens X's own post window in a new tab with a suggested sentence and a link to the account's page on playersells.com; nothing is posted unless you post it there yourself. The copy buttons put a link, or a short piece of HTML for a rank badge, on your clipboard. The extension sends no data when you share. Shared links carry campaign tags that tell us a visit came from a shared link, and they contain nothing about you.
- The free tools in the side panel are playersells.com pages shown inside the panel. Using them there is the same as using them on our website, and the rest of this policy applies to them.
- A rank checker or badge embedded on another website is loaded from our servers when someone views that page. We use that request only to answer it and to apply the same limit. Embeds set no cookies and run no analytics.
- We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not use it for any purpose other than answering the lookup.
13. Children's Privacy
PlayerSells is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of PlayerSells after changes constitutes acceptance.
