A typical post picks up 40 interactions against 55K followers, an engagement rate of 0.071%. Measured over 24 original posts, its engagement rate beats 40% of 21,185 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 4.1K times each, and 0.953% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 7.47% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 2.2 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 30% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Thursday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 24 posts sampled, 25% carry an image or video, 8% are part of a thread and 75% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 7.6K interactions, about 190x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Holly Dagres's engagement rate beats 40% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 5 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 35% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.071%, Holly Dagres sits above the 25th percentile of the 212,805 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.025% to 0.146%.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 212,805 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 22,448 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

This account's posting mix compared with catalog-wide effects

  • 25% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 75% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
  • Its average post runs 530 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

My growing list of pet peeves as an Iran analyst (and Iranian): - Iranians who call themselves “Persian” (Persian is a language and an ethnicity today) - People who call the Persian language “Farsi” (which is like calling the German language “Deutsche”) - People who say “Eye-ran” (it’s “E-rahn”) - People who say “the Straits” when they mean the Strait of Hormuz - It’s Persian Gulf, sorry 🙃

Since June, we’ve been investigating how the Islamic Republic has been going after protesters and dissidents, both inside the country and abroad. Together with @saitomri, @GilesEmily_ & Kaylee Kang, we’ve tracked a coordinated campaign by Iran’s security apparatus, judiciary and state broadcaster to instill a climate of fear. https://t.co/eBaBxRwBa2 Iran has executed at least 34 people linked to the January protests since March — representing a sharp uptick in political executions that the country has seen in years. Five people have been executed in the last 10 days alone. What stood out to me while reporting is the number of young people who have been executed in Iran. And how people have been systematically denied due process and access to their own case files. As @SinaYousefilaw told me “The courts, which were created to deliver justice, are now being used as instruments of repression. The institutions of power have all come together and joined hands to do this.” For many of us, today’s dark period is reminiscent of the summer of 1988, when the nascent Islamic Republic killed thousands of political dissidents. Each morning, Iranians awoke to the names of the dead filling their newspapers and television broadcasts. And in 2026, Iranians under a state-imposed internet blackout would see executions announcements and state propaganda fill state channels on Telegram and on TV. Thank you to @iranhr, @royaboroumand, @hrw & @HRANA for your tireless documentation of the death penalty and other human rights issues in Iran, and for sharing your work with me. And to the Iranians who spoke with me about their experiences, despite severe pressures to stay silent. As well, I’m grateful to Reuters @specialreports, @SarahCahlan and our editor @lhinnant for making space for this reporting.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington’s expanded pressure campaign was increasingly cutting Iranian officials off from international travel and assets, mocking what he described as the overseas lifestyles of members of the Revolutionary Guards. “They can’t go see their plastic surgeon in London, their girlfriend in Paris, and their money in Geneva,” Bessent told Newsmax on Thursday, arguing that restrictions on flights and financial access were leaving Iranian officials increasingly isolated. “We did have a maximum pressure campaign. Now we have an absolute isolation campaign and it’s working,” he said. Bessent said the campaign extended beyond financial sanctions to the US blockade of Iranian shipping and efforts to restrict air and land routes. He said the UAE and Oman were cooperating with Washington, while the US was working with Pakistan and Turkey “to cut off all the land routes.” https://t.co/eIteGwdRBy

Reading these numbers

A typical post picks up 40 interactions against 55K followers, an engagement rate of 0.071%. Measured over 24 original posts, its engagement rate beats 40% of 21,185 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. What is Holly Dagres's engagement rate on X?
Holly Dagres (@hdagres) has an engagement rate of 0.071%, based on the median interactions across 24 original posts from the last 30 days against 55,441 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.071%, Holly Dagres sits above the 25th percentile of the 212,805 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @hdagres have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 40% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @hdagres post?
Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Thursday is its busiest day, at roughly 2.23 posts per day across the measured window.
